Okay, sorry, couldn't resist.
Here's the scoop:
In defense of AUS-8 (Austenitic steel with about .8% carbon. 8A is short for AUS-8. AUS-8A is redundant. AUS-6 (6A) = same but with about .6% carbon, etc.)
