Does anyone have, or know, if the new BATAC SE fits the Spec Ops sheath (I'm talkin' thickness here)???

I know that the thinner Badgers do, but not sure about these thicker models....

yes it fits. its snug, but it fits.

Snug as in rubbing??

If yes, will this leave marks??????????????

CAn I mold with heat??????

it will probably leave marks. the satin finish on the le does not hide scratches well.

but the dc finish does not show scratches as readily. you can try and mold it, but such is the nature of kydex sheaths. kydex will nearly always cause a rash to some degree, on any finish.

I have my SE in the small Spec-Ops sheath. It's my user so I don't care about rub marks but it is a snug fit.

Morimotom is right on about the nature of kydex and plastics. They rub. But you can look into getting a custom kydex sheath for it that locks on the handle and not by blade friction. That should reduce it. Or just go leather. Let's us know what you do. :)

I agree on kydex rubs....I've had tan coated Busse's, UG, Satin, D/C, OG Flat Black, Black, OD, and some hand finished one's. They ALL got scuffs from Kydex, the three most resillient finishes in order were: Hand Finished, D/C, and Tan. The Hand finished wasn't as fine a finish as the D/C resulting in it being tougher and the tan is just a tough as nails coating. The OG flat black wasn't far behind though.

Another thing: Keep your knife clean (before inserting it in sheath that is :D) and keep the inside of the sheath clean whatever kind of kydex it may be. They're all easy to wash out! If you do this, it'll prevent any dirt or other such contaminants from entering the sheath causing scratches to form on your knife. Those definitely suck, I've gotten some of those on users with kydex rigs. I personally don't care much as there's MUCH bigger marks but some people might.

Also oil the blade and the inside of the kydex. That'll help prevent some of the rash.

Thanks guys. I appreciate all of your replys (and the pics too!) and will keep you all informed on which route I go and the final results.

Does anyone know if the kydex inserts on this sheath are malleable??

Any pointers? ... or experiences???
