Anyone left who needs a gmail invite?

Whoa! I had no real idea about most of that.
A shame actually, because I really like gmail for the most part.

Is there anything else out there like gmail, but without the BS? I am ready to switch.

Gmail is no worse than any other free email service. Anyone who believes that yahoo or hotmail is any more secure is kidding themselves.
Bottom line is, dont transmit sensitive information in your email.

Well, it looks like a jumped the gun there a bit. After reading a few policies, gmail really is not much different than any number of other free email services out there.

I don't put anything into email that I really don't want read by my ISP or anyone else, so it's a mute point for me.

I run my own mailserver, I like having control of as much as possible... :)
Also I have alot more free space than gmail can offer me, about 170 GB at the moment.. :)

This article outlines the same concerns many of us have had, some more than others.

Internet use up, but so is user concern

Computer and Internet use is up, but so are concerns about identity theft and other online dangers. Fifty-five percent of American households had access to the Internet at home in 2003, more than triple the percentage in 1997, according to a report released Thursday by the Census Bureau.
A survey released this week by Consumer Reports Webwatch found that 86% of computer users have changed their online behavior in some way because of concerns about identity theft. A little more than half stopped giving out personal information on the Web, while 25% said they stopped making online purchases.
