3 examples from the V&A. The longest is 26.5". The middle piece has a blade with a very unique coating of brass along the spine that has been varnished and the bottom kora has a spine design that is gold filled. All these would be from the last quarter of the 18thc up thru 1816.

Have an HI kora. Not that crazy over it, but you'll get my 20 ga. A5 Browning before the kora

Usual interesting and good stuff. Thanks, John.

If I had to use one of these koras I'd get rid of that bottom disc.

Even though the blades are fancy I would guess these were made to use by a noble or high ranking officer.

These were picked up after the Anglo-Indian War in 1815/16.

Those are awesome, but look pricey. Any ideas how much those run?

Rusty--an HI kora? Are there pix? HI still consider making the kora?

Not everything is for sale or has a price tag on it. Most of the pictures I am currently posting are all from museums.

We do to!!! We caught it from the Scots. "Tiny" is always the biggest. "Skinny" eats everything in sight.

Beautiful and interesting. But I have to say that they look like they would be uncomfortable to handle and designed more for ceremonial use. Am I right?
