Anyone like the Benchmade 721?

I remember handling one of these a couple of years ago at a knife shop, and it felt great in the hand. I found one on ebay recently and bought it, at a steal ($65).

Does anyone else really enjoy this knife? It seems like the absolute perfect size for EDC, the handle is fat and comfy, and it has a great blade shape not to mention the lock. I really wonder why benchmade discontinued this one, it seems like it would have been a hot seller. I guess it wasn't

Hello K man,

Benchmade usually discontinues knives that don't sell well ;)

I have no 721, but two 720 (those of an identic design but with an aluminium handle), one of them have I just now in a pouch at the belt.

I like them very much, for me it's a perfect size and very useful blade shape. However I reprofiled their edge angle to 15 degree with a 20 degree microbevel with my Spyderco Sharpmaker.

You can check that very similar thread in Benchmadeforum, I started it quite recently ;)

I carry a BM 721s as one of my 2 EDC's...It's an excellent folder!...Shame on Benchmade for DC'ing this one!

It's a good knife, but I prefer the 520 for its blade shape.

Yes, 520 is definitely a better slicer. We supposed that Presidio was one of the reasons of 72x series discontinuation.

But they ARE different. The belly of 720 is something special.

72x were strongest 3.25" knives I know.
