Anyone like using knife with mammoth ivory handles?

I am carrying a stellite folder with mamouth scales 24/7 and have had it for 6 years. The handle stands up just great and looks like new.

I think it’s mostly aesthetic, I put MI on a Poppin’s Damascus blade and it’s nice but the feel in my hand is no different than bone, antler or ivory.

pappy1959 uses a lot of ivory in the folders he makes. you should see the elephants toenail he made using mastadon ivory for the scales. talk about sweet .

I have a couple in mammoth that I use (one from Todd Davidson and one from Pappy) and my dad has a couple too. It is not micarta or G10, but with minimal care (i.e. no dropping on concrete etc.) it serves fine.

I have a beautiful Bullet folder from Bill Vining that has Mammoth Ivory handle scales. It is gorgeous.

I've got one of Amherst's folders with a blue/green mammoth ivory handle. It's one that I put in my pocket quite often, although I do keep it in a leather pouch to protect it from other pocket items. I wouldn't want to drop it on any hard surface the same as any other bone or antler handled pocketknife for fear of chipping or cracking.

It seems like you can always count on TKC to come out of the woodwork with an awesome picture. That's one SWEET knife. I'd love to use mammoth ivory, but I'm going to wait till I get a little better.

Buncha fancypants. Look at y'all with your fancy mammoth eye-vry.
(I'm just jealous 'cuz I don't have any)

That stuff is sickeningly expensive. It's a little flashy- a little "pimp" for my taste- but I still want a small Sebbie with it.
