Have seen a few Combat Grade Infi BB13's thinned out and modified. Have not seen anything on the Battle Grade Sr101 BB13's. Looks like they are a thinner stock than the Infi version.

Would be nice to see a comparison between the two in chopping power.

Would think the BGBB13 would be pretty similar to the 1311 in chopping power/ability, being that they're basically the same thickness iirc. Grind heights look pretty similar, but the 1311 is slightly longer while the BB13 has a bit more weight behind the belly, so IDK. Good point that I don't recall anyone really talking about now that you mention it.

I will reprofile, and put my optimized edge on my 1311 and test these two side by side . . . I'm almost positive the BB13BG will outchop it --- I guess we'll see

I have used the 1311 a bunch in this past year. The knife is a great user to say the least, probably one of my favorite. I am very curious how the BB13 stacks up to it: but I give the nod to the 1311 as far as pure cutting power goes. One can generate great speed with this machete type implement without getting tired. For me, the 1311 is just about as good as it gets for my camp/survival tool. Also keep in mind that the person behind the knife has a LOT to do with how it performs. YMMV.

Honorable mention goes out to my trusty Basic 9 that has been with me for eons. Another close favorite is the BM 2e. What a blade! And an even better handle. So many sterling choices provided by Jerry and his clan.

When can we witness the compare/contrast video between the 1311 and the BB13? Another good match would feature the HWS against the 1311.

I too love my BM-E2 and the 1311. I'm curious to see whether the slightly greater rotational velocity of the 1311 beats out the slightly greater mass of the BB13BG. I think the main kicker here is that the BB13BG's blade design and mass distribution, which makes it function more like a hatchet vs a machete. Like you said though, it's highly contingent on the user wielding it --- so I guess we'll see. At the moment, for smaller media and greener Media the 1311 should have the nod. For denser, dryer, and thicker media --- I anticipate the BB13BG coming out on top.

As for when I can test it, I'll have to first reprofile and sharpen the 1311. Then I'll have to clear out some time to conduct the informal test and hopefully convince my wife to record it ;)

What angle did you sharpen that bad boy. Love the profile Rob

Thanks brother --- it's 19 degrees with a drop to about 18-18.5 degrees towards the tip. The difference in bevel height is mostly due to the thickness of the blade as it gradually moves closer to the tip.
