They're rebranding the two smallest slim versions as steak knives, while the upper two are still Fillet Knives.
I generally really like the No 8 slim, so it's interesting that they made a change.
I suppose it's usefulness as a fillet knife is somewhat limited.
I wonder if it's less flexible than it's first iteration?
I have the old version of the 8, and it has a small kick:

I doubt they changed anything. Just elaborated on the recommended use.

Exiciting to see if they changed anything else..
I like that little kick- it actually holds the edge off the wood on the inside of the kerf, but I like the new blade shape better, I think.

I'm also curious to see what else they changed. I'm not in love with the flexibility.

Mine still hits the wood, so I dont believe the kick help all that much with that.

Try moving the blade side to side folded and u'll probably notice it binds with the wood.

At least mine does.

Yeah, that's interesting- when I got my No 8, the Kick was actually so tall that the tip was sitting proud in the handle. I had to file it down.
I was wondering if that was on every knife or just mine. Looks like just mine.

okay its gonna be a serious thread....so I'll be serious too.

when ya say flexibility is that due to a thinner blade stock or heat treat change?
