anyone order a scorpius yet?

Nope. So far as I know, they haven't hit production yet.

When the first run starts to ship, you'll likely see a kind collector's club member post a picture here or on the forum at the Spyderco site. Also, if it's not listed on the SFO sale site, it's probably not available yet from anyone.

So we wait..... :)

Oh, ok. Sal Glesser posted something on the blade discussion board about collectors being numbered, so I thought I would see if anyone ordered any yet.

www.newgraham.com has the Scorpius at a great price. I ordered one, the saleswoman opened a box for me and told me that the Scorpius is a little bigger than the Native and the blade is VG-10. I understand that Eric Glesser designed the handle. After my favorable reaction to the Dodo, I will always check out a Glesser design whether or not I think the knife looks good. He knows how to make a knife comfortable, and that is something that many designers/makers fail to do.

Anyone have a descripiton of the scorpious?? I would love to know what I need ot save up for.

I, for one, am VERY disappointed that they aren't offering this knife with a G-10 handle like the Dodo. I like the stainless handles, but for EDC, I would much prefer something a little more 'grippy' in the hand. Yes, I know the ergonomically shaped handle makes for a secure grip but that same handle plus textured G-10 would have made it rock solid. Oh well. Almost the perfect folder...

Any word yet on trainers for this knife...?

The Scorpius came today and my first impression is that it is extremely thin. That's one advantage of a stainless steel design. The second observation is that the blade profile reminds me somewhat of the old Jess Horn clipits except that it is wider. I haven't done any stabbing tests, but I do belive that this handle does have good retention possibilities. ALthough, some have asked about G-10, I would like a zytel version of the Scorpius if this model becomes a success. I really believe that the great strength of Spyderco is that they have always produced great designs in the lower price ranges.

How low in the pocket does it clip in? Good as an EDC?

The clip reminds me of the Lum Chinese clip. It does not ride real low in the pocket. About 3/8" of handle is exposed. I think that the Scorpius would probably work very well as an EDC piece, in terms of overall length, once again it reminds me of the old Jess Horn clipits. In terms of width, it's a hand filling design but the thinness puts the knife in a different class from models like the Salsa or Temperance. I guess the best comparison would be a metal handled Dodo with a bigger, straighter blade.

Anthony,
Once again you beat me to a new blade ;) I just ordered mine from Mike and I can't wait! newgrahm is a great place to order from.

***Were you one of the lucky ones to recieve a PE one? I bought a SE but I think I may eventually pick up a PE also.

I hope to get an assignment in detective bureau soon. Wishful thinking probably, but I am growing tired of patrol. One of the first things I thought of, being the knifeknut that I am, is what knife to carry? I wanted something with class that would also be "tactical". I didn't have a clue what to get. That is probably the one type of knife that I am really lacking. I have a boatload of big g-10 tacticals. It looks as though the Scorpius fits the bill perfectly. I'll know for sure once I get one, but I think it fills a niche that not many knives do. I can also get the handles engraved, which is a big plus.

Jazzman, I got a plain one. Shootist, you make a good point. The Scorpius is a small folder with tactical capabilities, not unlike the Native. The difference is the nice stainless frame.
