Because I sure did!

I'm as excited as a school girl about this knife. My bg42/cf millie was awesome, this one should be even cooler! Wooo Caly3!

Ordered from newgraham, as usual, btw:cool:

Just ordered mine about 20 minutes ago from NGK. I love my Caly 3 VG10 and G10, but Carbon Fiber and ZDP189 should be able to shave a soap bubble.:)

Hooray, YES

(finally my 2006 xmas present)

was considering overnight shipping,
but got another caracara instead :}

Was this a very limited run?? I can't see them on the Spyderco website... if I've been blind, just give me a slap... long day....

I got my order in on Thursday. I’ve been waiting for this knife ever since my ZDP Caly Jr. was confiscated by customs in October 2005!
Thanks again Sal for putting the adjustable pivot on this knife.

Ordered mine as soon as I got the word from New Gramham that they were in. It should be in this week and I can't wait! I've been waiting a while for this one.
I hate the wait!

Jeff

I know they are out of stock since a few days and we have to wait for the next production run.
When is the next run and was this first run only available through NGH ?

How do these compare with the other black Caly 3 ZDP189's (other than 3 times as expensive)?

thank you

I've been loocking at their "new arrivals" and somehow I missed it. :o

And Knifeworks price is competitive with NG. I don't think you could go wrong. I had a serious choice to make. About 4 or 5 days ago, NG had both CF Caly3s (at that time maybe 10 to 20?), and 2 Benchmade 707s in D2 steel with the walnut inlay. I had around $150 to spend. I could have gone with the 707 or the Caly3 but not both. Seriously, this was bugging me out. I like the 707. It's a great knife. My first two serious folders were BM's 705 (the 707 predecessor) and 525 Mini-Presidio. Both great knives! I love the Axis lock and easy one hand open/close. In the end, I went with the Caly 3 even though I knew the 707 D2 was a sprint run of 500. Why? I guess I have caught the Spyderco bug. My first 2 knives were Benchmades. My last 4 have been Byrd/Spydercos. I have a Poliwog (which I love, great knife! I see great things ahead for the ball lock), two Byrds (Starling and G-10 Robin) and now the CF Caly 3. It's a work of art. I mean it Neo. Buy it. You won't regret it. The one hand open/close is incredible. As easy for me as an Axis flip. The tension on the backlock is perfect. No bladeplay, vertical or horizontal. And razorsharp out of the box. And that's just the beginning. The carbon fiber handle is light (2.5 ounces) and strong. And it looks incredible. I like G-10 like a denim jacket. The carbon fiber is a tux. Stylish and sharp. Secure grip. Short version. Grab it. You won't be sorry.

Active Verb - are you sure NGK had the 707 (D2 and walnut version)?

CF Caly3s appeared few weeks ago and these BMs are long gone, maybe you have just experienced what I've described here but I doubt they got the limited 707s back in stock

They had two in stock. Where they got them from, I don't know. But they were "in stock" as of last week.

I could have gotten one then. I chose the Caly3. If you really need a 707 with walnut and D2 and are willing to pay $160, there is an alternative.

Not willing to pay $160. Maybe he will negotiate. Carbon fiber and ZDP was the better move in my view. Maybe the rareness of the Benchmade will prove a better investment. I don't know. I don't buy knives to invest. I buy knives to use. To each their own. FWIW, I believe the 707 is an excellent knife. I handled one at a bricks and mortar before they went bust. But the experience didn't come close to what experienced with my Caly 3. The Caly3 is a better knife for me than the 707. I went on faith when I put the order in. And I haven't been disappointed. It's really incredible... holding it. The 707 is great. In my opinion, the Caly 3 is beyond great. It's an experience. The blessing/curse of the internet is that it allows 2nd hand reports of our encounters with knives. In this case, I'd ask each person to hold a Caly 3 or a 707 (D2 or other) and make up their own mind. Depending on where you are, that's not possible. So, I guess that's where we have to leave it. For me, I don't think a 707 D2 or otherwise stacks up well against a Caly 3. I doubt my opinion would change with a G-10 Caly3 and a stock 707. Again, to each their own.

AV - you are right, my mistake
It's certainly interesting, I remember they were sold out months ago and never appeared again. Suddenly they are back. One have to wonder
