I'm very interested in having a special UG done to represent the beautiful state I live in. I believe I've heard you can send a pattern in to have done but can you also use your own stone to inlay? The Minnesota state gemstone is a lake superior agate, which I have quite the collection of, and I thought it would be cool to have one inlayed. Has anyone ordered a UG? LoneWolfe?

You can order the design/pattern but im not sure about the stone.

Call CRK and get the facts straight from them.

Thank you for the logical answer but i posted here to hear from members who have experience ordering a UG. What CRK will tell me is fact, which I want, but I'd like to have a discussion with the consumer too.

Sorry, I cannot really help directly, but as a follow up regarding the cabochon, if CRK won't do it, it is quite easy to do yourself provided you have an appropriate sized stone relative to the hole.

If CRK won't do it, I'd suppose it's because they don't want to size your stone (they likely source their stones pre-sized, so all they have to do is set them).

Not directly, but through a dealer.

Last Xmas I asked them to inlay a gold coin in one of mine, I was told they no longer do that.
Not sure about the stone.
Sage advice= call and ask they are super nice
About 3 years ago I called hell bent on the later lock up and asked to talk to the shop foreman, to my surprise Chris Reeve picked up the phone and explained to me about his lock, very polite and he will keep getting my business..
I have drifted off topic good luck on your UG

I have called, twice now, and they've been better than great both times. I thought Spyderco has good CS (they do) but CRK hasn't charged me for parts that Spyderco has. I am able to make the agate cab whatever size I need some as long as they're willing to set it, it should work. I will have to call and get the size if that's the case. I thought I saw in a old video that they use a local gem shop in Idaho to do all the stone work so maybe the shop could finish the stone, or have one already.

LW, did you choose a design or let Lisa do her own thing? I've really grown fond of some UG's and would like to eventually have some just random stuff. I really didn't want to collect knives anymore but the Unique's are so cool.

I made slight modifications to a Night Sky and a Morning Sun.

A gold coin? Similar to what Plaza Cutlery does? Please post pics! that would be neat to see!

I've had a complete custom made that was simple by my own design but they would have set a cabochon that we spoke of as well. it has to sized for the hole that is usually drilled into the 21 presentation side. Setup cost for UCGG is $90 and there will be an extra cost for setting the cabochon.
