I need a forge with a larger opening than the NC forge I have been using.I've talked to Diamondback and Chiliforge and from the info it seems that the Chiliforge is much more efficient.Do any of you own a Habanero or any Chiliforge model? What do you think of it?

I use one, a two burner,......easily reaches
welding heat with one burner though, so I've never used the
second.....Will run on 3 lbs pressure, where my MC used to quit
at 5-6 lbs.

Chili Forge's customer service is very good.

The newer models can be partially disassembled for rebuilding,
I'm told.

I was at a hammerin last weekend where the hosts had a Chili Tabasco. that lil thing rocked! it ran all day on a single BBQ tank. it reached welding heat VERY quickly. They heat treated 2 swords in it and made some low layer damascus, not to mention a few knives. I've put a tabasco on my wish list.

I have the tabasco forge {4- 5 yrs} love it.
It has a hot spot but it's easy to work around. 3 - 4 # gas it will run all day.If I had a chance to do it over ,I would get the two burner model , Maybe not use the#2 burner but just have it in case.
I use the hot spot, 10xx will be to non mag. before the forge is
really heated up. Like I said, love it.

I don't have one of their forges, but I did get one of their burners earlier this year, and built my own forge. The burners work great.

I've had the habanero model now for a couple of months. Just retired my vertical 12" forge from uncle Al's as it is getting to temper-mental after 10 years of reliable service. It's extremely easy to set up and start. Reach's forging and welding temps. Easy to move around, and a neat little setup.

What I don't like is the hot spots. I keep having the ceramic plates fall in on the sides and ruining a day of forging. I hit anything with my treadle hammer and can almost guarantee that the plates will fall in. Will be trying something new tonight to keep that from happening again.

I have several new thermocouples and PID controllers and will be setting it up for digital control in the future. I may be removing the ceramic plates altogether to make for a more chamber that will help with the hot spots.

Hope this helps.
