I'm looking for more info, pics, opinions etc. On Don Mount. I handled some of his blades at the Knife Expo in SoCal, and almost bought one. Now I'm kicking myself! But looking for any owners out there with pics and opnions.

Hello. I am Don Mounts niece. What did you want to know? You are aware that he has passed, right?

I didn't, but a friend did. I can't remember what it looked like, but the name stuck with me, it was called the Rock Crusher. I also remember he had a cool Woody Woodpecker looking logo. Funny, I haven't thought of that in many years, but I remember!

I still have 2 Don Mount knives. The Rock Crusher I got when we saw him at the show, and I think the other one is called Ravi? Or something like that. It's been a long time.

I have a Don Mount knife that looks like a Kabar, but has a 9" blade. I met Mr. Mount and liked his super Kabar blade so I bought one. After owning the 7" model for a couple of years, I asked him if he could make one with a 9" blade, and that is what I have left now. I kind of kick myself for trading off the 7" blade super Kabar model.

There is no woodpecker logo on my knife, on the side of the blade it simply has "Don Mount" on one side. The knife has remained in pristine condition since I received it. I put a para-chord thong around the pommel end of the handle, and used some other para-chord to make a hanging fob and some chord through the holes on the side of the sheath, but this is all easily removed and never did alter either the knife or the sheath.

I recently purchased a massive Bowie (12” blade, snap attached to guard, wooden case as well as a leather sheath marked Mount on the back. The blade has ‘Mount’ stamped in it. It is incredible. I was told it was purchased over 20 years ago and made by Don Mount. I would love to know more about him because the workmanship and balance are incredible!

I can find no knife magazine articles on Don Mount so forums is my last resort. I would love to connect with any family members and share a picture of this incredible Bowie with them in exchange for info on him (maybe a picture and brief history).

Why don't you just post a picture here?

Tactical Knives featured him in a fairly early issue but I can't tell which anymore. I have one his heavy duty k-bar pattern knives and think highly of it.

I met Mr. Mount at one of the Soldier of Fortune conventions and purchased one of his 7" stainless Kabar like knives. While the Kabar like knife lived in my vault, I liked it so much that I asked Mr. Mount if he would make me a similar knife but with a 9" long blade. The knife I ultimately received had a blade that was 8 7/8" long...just an eighth inch under 9 inches. It still sits in my vault along with its black sheath that has the stainless rivets in it. I have never used it, it just sits there looking pretty and looks just like when I received it.
