Yes! It is a beautiful 12" Ivory Handled Salyan! I personally have made a special order to Pakcik Bill for this HI Logo Salyan with unique Cho ... but ... either with Deer Horn Handle or Bone Handle. I guess it will take some time & I have to be patient with it because I think it is really worth to wait for.

If I'm not mistaken ... Pakcik Bill made few of these HI Logo Salyan before at Shop #1 ... maybe I read this in KnifeForums.

Hello Matthew
That Khukuri is Uncle Bill's personal K given to him by family member(Nepali family).Salian is in western Nepal but at one time Till made some that were a little larger. The cho looked close to Bill's.The one I have is 14"(4.5" handle and 9.5" blade)with a bone and brass handle the sword of Shiva on Bill's is hammered in,so it is actually raised. My K has the normal one with that is pecked into the blade and is flush.
This is a very special order and IF POSSIBLE TO GET AT ALL,MAY TAKE A WHILE TO GET MADE.
Good luck and like mohd said you must be patient. They are all well worth the wait.

Ray is correct. I'm afraid if Uncle Bill reads your requests ( Matthew and Mohd ) while he's sipping coffee, he'll spit it all over the keyboard.

Mohd will understand why this is a "howler" that will have many forumites rolling on the floor, doing the LMAO bit. It isn't anything to do with you, Matthew, but you have stepped on Uncle Bill's sore toe or smacked him in the funnybone ( maybe both ) depending on which side of bed he gets out of this morning.

As Ray said, the logo khuk is of great sentimental value. But it is smaller. Someone decided they wanted a more useful size, so Bill attempted to give them what they asked for. It gives a good example of why he refers to his relationship with the kamis as a love/hate relationship.

The kamis are the lowest of the Hindu classes, the untouchables, and few read. They also speak only the native language. So Bill sent off a drawing and some dimensions ( inluding one for a .5" spine ). A while later he got word back "You know, brother, it's going to be awful heavy if you insist on a 5 inch thick spine." Someone here figured out the rough dimensions of a khuk five inches thick and started calling it the 800 pound Salyan. Big joke.

But since the Salyan area was way across the country, and all they had to go by was a drawing of the little, logo one to scale up, they scaled up *everything* proportionately. Bill got the run of six, and pulled the first out of the box and his first thought was
"Well, it might not be 800 pounds, but..."

Despite the ungainly oversize dimensions, all six "Super Salyans" sold, and people wanted more. A second bunch is being made and Will Kwan got the first of that batch.

Go to the first link below to read Will's report on recieving it, including dimensions, then to the second link for a picture.

By the way Matthew, welcome to the HI Cantina and Stage Stop. The Cantina part refers to my observation that the Forum resembles the bar scene in the original Star Wars where Obi Wan Kenobi takes Luke Skywalker into the wierd dive with a bunch of aliens on Tattoine - seemed appropriate with the characters on the forum. You should only worry if you feel comfortable here - that means you're about as weird as snake suspenders, bet you're with people like you. Rusty

By the way, did I mention my new email address?

SASQUATCHYETI@BIGFOOT.COM

( ROTFLMAO - but it's true! )

Now Uncle Bill's comment in the "lighter blade" thread about 15 foot sirupatis and 800 pound salyans should start making sense.

Thanks for the info. I guess I will set my sights a little lower. In reference to your comment I love snake suspenders and I love reading this forum. I hope I'm not too weird for the rest of you. I should say that I own an Emerson Commander, and that is how I found this forum (through Emerson disscusion groups). I have always loved Khukuris and have yet to find some that were of good quality (I have some of that are from Nepal but are pretty poor). I haven't bought any from Uncle Bill but am dieing to do so. If anybody has any comments or suggestions I would love to hear them.
I feel obligated to say this about Emerson they WERE great knives (before 1999). I can't wait to test the quality of HI's- I'm sure they'll be a hell of a lot better. Thanks to all.

Pakcik Bill.
... duplicated that knife 100% ...
Please don't give up! Maybe ... there is still a very slim hope! I guess we do alive with hope!!!

BTW, this coming end of August few of our Khukurinuts will be coming to Reno - maybe any of our expert can duplicate in it wood as a prototype for the Kamis exact reference!

Better late than never ...

NEPAL HO!

Bill, you need to send it to Yvsa. Then he can make a couple of wooden duplicates of it. One he'll send to the kamis, and the other he'll send to you, which you won't notice because of the beer and meds. Then he'll auction off the original to the highest bidder and send me my percentage for thinking of this little scheme
