Anyone own a Zieba Folder?

Ive owned a few and they are all top quality. The only reason you wouldnt like them is bc of personal choice bc they all have perfect fit and finish. If not, contact michael zieba himself and he will gladly fix the issue.

I own the S1 and the S1 mini. Couldn't be happier with them and I highly recommend them. Overall a great value for a hand built custom. I carry the mini quite often (have it right now actually). I would love to carry the large but it is my only safe queen. Great knives to collect or use. Doing business with Mr. Zieba has been a good experience too. Once I called the number on his card with a few questions. He answered while he was driving and we chatted for 20 minutes about his work and unique custom options. As far as I can tell, he is a one man operation and takes pride in doing his work by hand. I don't think he uses CNC. The F&F on my knives has been very good. I like that he experiments with unique plating and finishes.

I bought a zieba knife off a private sale and unfortunately sent it back for a refund. It was an s1 model. the pocket clip design made it impossible to get it in the pocket. It was so tight and had no flex. it was the worst pocket clip ive ever experienced. Also the detent when closed had a ton of movement making for a weak flipper as well. I t could also be shook open easily. the blade rocked in the closed position .Cant see how this one got past him.its the model with the copper mixed bronze ti handles. Maybe it was just a dud that got by,but I hated it so much so fast I don't think id buy another.

The S1 mini is comparable in size to my small shamwari and my GEC 15.
Above goldie goldie mentioned the pocket clip. I would add to my previous commitment that the clip on the small will not fit on thicker pockets. It clips perfectly in the watch pocket of my heavy work pants, and the texturing on the clip is very nice when pulling the knife out of the pocket.

I too have an S1 and S1 Mini. I really like both knives and plan to buy more from Zieba, so I'll just cover my negatives here. The knives did not come as sharp as I would have liked, but that is easily fixed. Not as easily fixed is that the blade shape / grind makes is a bit less useful in my day to day needs. The lockbar is extremely stiff which provides for good flipping action, but, when combined with a smooth radius on the bar itself makes for difficult actuation. Lastly, when I took the S1 apart to clean it, I noticed he had stacked washers to get the blade centered (there are bearings that ride on washers against the scales).

As for the size of the mini I was surprised at how small it was. It is smaller than my ZT0450 and only a little bigger than my Mnandi.

Uncanny timing... I've been looking at getting either the Bold or S1. I think I am leaning towards the Bold, I prefer not having the harpoon blade. I love the hollow grinds he puts on the blade. The pocket clip does concern me. The issue everyone is describing reminds me of the ZT 0804CF with the horrendous clip. That ZT clip looks very much like the Zieba clip - zero flexibility and impossible to get into your pcoket with one hand only.

Is it possible that the previous owner messed it up playing with or opened it up trying to adjust the detent to his liking. The issue with the clip is definitely a design flaw. I have had two knives pass through my hands and both were incredible. I traded them because I would never carry a $750.00 knife as EDC. I actually called his shop in Brooklyn and spoke to him for a while. His shop is only about 20 minutes away from my house. I asked him when more will be made and he said that he is going to Spain and will be back in September and work on some more. It might be a good idea to call him and talk to him personally If you actually want to own one.

Thank you all so far for the info on Zieba. There are a few out there I'm interested in, The Bold and the Angry Bird ( well, because the clip is cool ). I do like the blade shape on both. It is good to hear from actual users.

It's weird, on the home page at the bottom it says they have a Lifetime Warranty but under the warranty section of the pages of a couple of the knives I looked at it says "Your warranty is good for 7 days after the date of purchase." I saw that on the S1 Mini's page awhile back and took it off my list of knives I was interested in.

I saw that and was a bit confused. Possibly, seven day return policy? IDK.

I didn't even notice the mention of the lifetime warranty at the bottom of their homepage until today. I guess I should bring it to their attention because it certainly turned me off pretty quickly.

Clarification would be nice.

I don't think so it was like the hole that the detent ball should fit tightly in was bigger than the ball, causing the extreme play when closed. I don't think ill be buying another one.

I asked about the warranty when I spoke with Mr. Zieba. He said if I had any issues to return it and he would take care of it.
