Anyone polish old Japanese blades in the US?

I have one tanto with papers and kizu. Wouldn't bother me except the GI who brought it home had to TRY to fix it with (probably) steel wool.

Used to be when I knew John Yumoto that most blades went to Japan for polish. Just wondering if any US knife guys do it now.
 
oooooooooo steel wool. Thats rought, he might have ruined the value.


go over to swordforum.com and seek out John D sword polishing. Summer child polishing also does the jap sword polishing
 
fortunately, he (or she) just messed with the immediate area around the kizu. Just a bit. Not over whole blade. It's still presentable, but irritating to see the blemishes.
