Anyone regrind/Kreign their Gayle Bradley?

There were a few rumblings about regrinding it when it first came out from a few people. I'm after pictures of either total regrinds (Kreign style) or just a reprofiling. Also, I'd like to know peoples opinions on their regrind if they have.

I love my GB, but I'm just wondering, probably wont regrind mine at all unless I chip my blade more (slight chip from being an idiot and prying a copper staple out of a box).

Thanks!

I don't see a need to regrind the Bradley; it has the thinnest and/or most shallow edge of any Spyderco I've ever bought.

Indeed. It's got a wicked thin double hollow grind. If it got thinner the blade would surely break. Prybars are for prying, knives are for slicing ;)

Never said I would, it just resparked in my head. There were a few rumblings about turning it into a FFG. I was more curious. I love this knife as is!

Everything possible.;)
A talented regrinder like Krein can surely try something.
But it will be a very very thin blade... even if CPM M4 would be strong enough though...

I know this is an old thread, but has anyone done this or had it done? I purchased my GB used but it has only ever been stropped since the factory sharpening. I profiled it to 15 dps and measured the shoulders. It is .020" thick on the main part of the edge and is .038" thick at the tip... I'm looking to thin it down to about .010" thick consistently.

I'm just seconding what others have said that thinning it out more may greatly effect the durability of the edge. I'd proceed with caution.
But by all means, keep us posted with what you find out...

I would think with the proper equipment and experience that the edge can be thinned. I do not however think a full ffg would be possible without narrowing the spine down to like 2mm or less.

Thanks Chris, was just about to post that link :-)

I am not referring to lowering the edge angle (that's at 15 dps now) but rather thinning out the primary grind so that the "shoulders" of the edge aren't as thick.

I'll definitely keep you all posted :-)

I got it done! This is the result. Note that I did have to do some multi facets because my 8" wheel wasn't a large enough radius to match the grind, but it turned out really well I think. You can see a few minimal grind marks from the radius of the 8" wheel, but other than that you can't really tell. Plus I'm hoping the cerakote will cover some of that =) ! I only finished it on a 600 grit belt. But now most of the edge measures .008" with it closer to .013" near the tip. =D If you measure back near the heel, it is still near .010" about an 1/8" in from the edge, so hopefully I didn't go too thin, but only time will tell.

That's a beautiful grind, always curious about people regrinding the GB. As far as people having issues at lower DPS on the edge, obviously cater the edge to what you cut. Cutting abrasive media with sand and dirt in it will effect a thin edge bevel.

Thanks guys! Yeah mine was just way too thick at .020" on the main edge and around .038" near the tip
