Some years back I saw a small flywheel powered rotary shaver in a catalog(I think it was Lehman's ?). It used a pull cord(like an old gas lawnmower) to get the flywheel going fast enough to give about 30 seconds of shave time. It had been advertised as having been taken to the moon by Apollo astronauts because it needed no batteries. Does anyone know if this shaver is still available ?

Thanks,
Mith.

Hey Mithril,

a french company called Sufam produces some, the Sufam Gyro Razor.I have seen them in Globetrotter stores here in Germany. When you go to their website - www.globetrotter.de - and start a search for "Rasierer" you´ll find èm.

I found it and it's E19.95, that should be pretty close to $20USD shouldn't it? I wonder what shipping would be to the states. I had German in the sixth grade but that was over 40 years ago and I could only get a "sense" of what was going on.

the shipping shouldn't be a lot, but they say the shaver is sold out...

I found a OLD hand held shaver in a box in the house. I isnt a pull cord, it's a wind up.

I don't know how old it is, but I would say 60's. Honestly I don't know.

It is rather neat, made in Switzerland, company Thoren Riviera.

Than on the wind up meatal piece it says:Solina Other PAT. PEND. INTERN. # 84070. REG. DESIGN_BRIT. # 876564. BRIT. PAT # 748 126

You operate it by pushing in a button, kinda like a safty on a gun, Red to start, black to stop.

If your interested in seeing pics, there are some here, here, and here.
