i deleted the original post cause i found a pic of the knife, couldn't remember the name of it. DRE helped me out with the name so i tracked down a pic. anyone have one they want to sell or know where i can buy one?

Sold under the Phrobis brand name. Best thing about the knife was the sheath, nearly indestructible. Hard to unsheath the knife though. Cutlery Shoppe carried them for a while. There was a great write up in Fighting Knives some years ago about the CUK(Combat, Utility Knife) made for NSWG. Miserably lacking in all respects, it was dropped and back in came the infamous MOD O Mark 3. Another substandard design but "cheap". Break um by the dozens and buy more.

Bob Nissley was the president of Phrobis International. They were the ones who came up with the design of the BuckMaster with the help of Mickey Finn. They built these knives (CUK) and had the Navy broke them in great quantities. The rest, they say, is history:)
