now it just needs an edge :)

anyone want it? free to a good home, it has some ugliness where the handle can't make up for the improper fit of the metal pars but the handles on solid and smooth and it looks like a worker to me (more pictures here)

pm or email me,

thanks for looking

That thing looks awesome, Peter! If I used a fixed blade regularly, I'd jump all over that.

It's a beaut!

At first glance it appears to be a leather stack -

Maybe make it a contest prize? I would enter....

best

I've had 2 people message me. I like the idea of contest now though. :)

But I said what I said. It a free save shipping. Ozt if you are outside the us 50. Inside the us I'll ship it first class on my own dime.

First address in my inbox gets it.

Thanks all for the comments

Glad you could release some of your creative energy onto that old knife Peter. When you were messing around with rat tang knives I had John send it to you. As I recall that knife was made in Denmark and the facelift rebuild you gave it is definitely in the school of DANISH MODERN. Wonderful work! When we get around to doing the Squirrel Hunter I think that we might go with the stacked wood handle>

i am just seeing this. i agree with myke....the stacked wood is a unique take on a classic process. really enjoyed looking at this one.

congrats stabman.

i still have a knife that i am supposed to try to do a stacked leather handle on. i should really get on that....

Pics of it in use this camping/outdoor season would be greatly appreciated. Cool project, turned out nice.

Tracking info says it should be here early in the week.
There will be pictures. :)
Food first, woods later...more food than woods in the immediate vicinity. ;)

But woods pics will certainly happen.

Well, the knife showed up today, so I brought it along when I went to the university to do some research; took a few detours for pics. :)

It looks great juxtaposed with graffiti:

Or stuck into a tree:

And it helps harvest...whatever these plants are. :)

It came with a bandana, a business card, and a paracord lanyard with a couple of skull beads; I will get a picture of those things and the knife once the JB Weld dries.
I'm filling the voids with some JB Weld so no food or sap will get into the crevices when being used.

I will also get a caliper measurement of the thickness once the epoxy dries; it is rather thin stock.
The wood looks pretty good in person.

Those Danish folks seem to have run the steel pretty soft though...it was quite easy to put a new, pointier tip on it with a file. Sharpening will be a breeze; it will be interesting to see what edge retention is like when in use.

All in all it seems like a handy little knife, and once again I must express my gratitude for the generous giveaway. :)
