Hey all-

I was just browsing around looking for some Spydies to add to the collection and stumbled onto this one:

Wow- I like it! Must've been before I got interested in Spydercos, and I can't even recall seeing any for sale on the forums. Of course, I probably wouldn't put mine up for sale either if I had one...

Sal? Fellow Spyderco aficianados? Have any comments on this one? Seen one, owned one, production numbers?

Yes, I have a mint condition green handle insert model with a plain edge. I bought it when they first came out, maybe 1994. It is beatiful with its faux fileworked back spacer. The kraton insert has tiny little nibs, like a ping pong paddle, for texture, and the alloy handle is sort of a silver/khaki color. The pocket clip is set for a very low ride in the pocket and the Spyder Hole is very small in order to remain eligant. Blade steel was ATS-34, which used to be trendy, speaking of "remember that"!!!

I have a plain edged grey one with black inserts like the one pictured. It is one of my favourite carry knives particularly in my work environment (school) and I find the blade shape extremely useful. IMNSHO it is a much better knife than the later G10 version as I found the "Secure Lock" to be more of a nuisance than anything else. Just one point though, the scales were aluminium, not zinc as stated in Best Knives advertisement.

Yeah Jeff...
It took me a long time to like the knife shape, butt I find it a precise scalpel and very slim in the pocket. Best apple peeler/corer in my kniferoll. Great for splinters too. And now that they are discontinued I keep finding great buys on them.

Firebat...
There are new serrated green and black insert aluminum handled ones listed here.

I had the chance to pick one of those up with the green inserts about 2 weeks ago. Still kicking myself, I went with 2 black ti delicas instead:D

The C25 Aluminum/Kraton Centafonte series were some of the best of Spyderco.
We still have a few black and green on closeout @ 75.00.
The blue was the most popular.
The file work is especially nice.
