Anyone reprofiled a machete?

I'm thinking along the lines of adding a gradual clip point to a standard military-type machete (Ontario 18" in this case) to improve the aesthetics. I realize that decreasing the weight-forward mass affects the chopping power. I am wondering if the looks would be improved any with some modification; the standard machete shape is somewhat ugly IMHO. Anyone ever done this, or even seen one that had been reprofiled?

Thanks,
Dan

I reprofiled my old Collins by dropping the point about 1/2" and it vastly improved its looks in my opinion.

There are Ontario's machetes that have clip points, I think they were designed by Blackie Collins. I have changed the edge profile on many machetes, but never reground the tip. I would not want a clip point on any large blade because of the loss of strength, however it is your blade, grind it until it is as you want it.
