Anyone see the Leatherman on X-Files?

Weems used the plier jaws to scratch off a lottery ticket and was carving with the knife blade. When carving, it looked like a Wave. However, when he put it in his breast pocket and it deflected a bullet, he pulled it out and it looked like a Supertool. ???

Anyone else catch this?

I caught it, but couldn't tell which one, we don't have cable (poor reception).

Oh, btw, what kind of flashlight did they have?

Thanks,
DaveH

It was a Wave when he got shot, too. My fiancee leans over and says "So, I'll bet you know what kind of knife that was!"

I know it was a Wave because I am making a Wave sheath for someone and I have been looking at it a lot in preparation. I could be wrong, though.

Scully was using a Sure-Fire 6P flashlight -- that's what she and Mulder usually carry, though in some episodes (Tooms, Jose Chung's From Outer Space) they use Mag rechargeables.

I could have sworn that looked like a Supertool when he pulled it from his pocket.

If someone has it on tape, please check it out.

Sorry. I am usually way too busy checking out Scully, to see what type of equipment she is carrying....

Ahhh... You guys are pretty good!

Here are the details. The knife/tool he used in the whittling scene was a WAVE. The tool he pulled from his shirt pocket was a SuperTool.

Cool episode huh?

I'm glad Mike cleared up the leatherman issues. That episode was pretty cool. I was watching it in the lounge (on my floor in the dorm) with my friends, and many of them know I'm a Knifenut. When he got shot and pulled the leatherman out of his pocket I was "Oh...maybe one day it'll save my life too!" Everyone thought it was hilarious, especially since I just ordered a Wave that afternoon.
I know they carry Sure-fire lights, but do they ever have knives? And what kind of guns do they carry?

Thanks,
Mitch

They usually carry Sigs these days, though in older ones they had Smith and Wessons (5906 or something like that). In the really old ones Scully ahd one of those small Sigs that looks like a PPK.

I have seen Mulder use a Gerber EZ-Out and some little switchblade. He has used a Leatherman on occasion and Scully took one off of a cop to do a trachiotomy (sp) on him in one episode.

I am sure someone else has more info on this subject...

The guns they carry are Sig.

The only knives I have sent to the set are Spyderco. Mulder used a Endura in several episodes as well as other characters.

...maybe we can get Mike or others to incorporate the bullet-stopping tests into some evals of pocket tools...

I've long noticed the cutlery sightings in the X-Files. Mulder has also used a Kershaw Liner Action drop point with semi-serrated edge a couple times.

Yes, the first couple of times last night is was a Wave. He closed the knife blade with the pliers closed up already. I also remember the above-mentioned trachiotomy scene in the Florida apartment building episode that had another Leatherman, and Mulder's E-Z-Out Jr. too. Unfortunately, I don't remember which episodes the Spydercos were in. Anybody know which ones?

Dang, sounds like I missed an interesting episode. Current shows they carry a SF 6P. Older episodes were UK SL4. Mini Mags are seen here and there.

I also like the episode where they were hunting a sea monster during a huricane. Scully used the deputies LM Supertool then. Seemed to handle it rather well.

Yeah, I noticed the same thing and got made fun of by my girlfriend...she said jeeezzz your pathetic! I bet your knife buddies are already posting about it!...I knew she wouldnt understand.

Mulder carried a Glock early on, and Scully had a P230. They switched to SIG 226s and then went to S&W 4011's for a short while and then back to the SIG 226. Mulder carries a back up Walther PPK. Scully's new SIG is a 228, seen a couple of episodes ago where she shot a zombie.
The flashlights were Mag lites then UKE 4c Sun Lights, and now Sure Fire 6P's.
Mulder carries a Kershaw Liner Action (just like my girlfriend's) and I recall Scully carrying a SAK though I could not tell which model.

I recall Mulder scraping up some slimy "evidence" with an E-Z Out one time, but I admit to usually checking out Scully's equipment rather than wondering what Mulder has in his pockets. Sorry. My wife picked up on the 6P's. "Hey, they're using flashlights like the little one you have, aren't they?" Perceptive gal, eh?

David Williams, (in my Butthead voice) huh huh huh, you said "Scully" and "tool" in the same sentence. Huh huh huh. "Tool". Huh huh huh. (And now Beavis) "Yeah, heh heh, he said `Tool'."

Uh, Scarman, I'm usually too busy checking out Scully's equipment to bother check ing out what she's carrying!

On an unrelated note, I spotted a customs agent opening boxes with a serrated, full-size Spydie Rescue on that segment on Dateline last night about the stuffed animals from China made with real cat fur. My fiancee knew it was a SPyderco, too, and the first thing she asked was "Steve, do you think he'll get in trouble with his boss for being seen carrying a knife?" Scary, even though it was tongue in cheek!
