I believe that the leek is going to be my next knife purchase, but I can’t decide on the finish. Has anyone seen the black leek, or do you know if it is a “shiny black” or a matte black? Any pics or links would be very helpful. Thanks!

I ordered a Random Leek PE from Chesapeak Knife and Tool and am waiting for them to receive their shipment and send it to me. I'm not sure of the color but I'll be sure to post up a picture of it as soon as I get it. It will have the s30v steel.

I saw your post about the “random” when I was looking for stuff on the Leek and now I think I will throw that one into my list of choices too ;). However, my original question was directed more to the basic leek that is offered in a black coating.

Thanks for the responses!

That would be the Leek in Boron coating. It is a semi shinny finish looks very good the only thing that sucks with it is that finger marks show big time.

The coating hards the outside of the blade making it in theory shartch proof.

According to Knifecenter, the only Leek that is Boron Carbide coated is the Black/Gold Leek. The regular black Leeks and the Rainbow Leek are all Titanium Oxide coated. The Chives were Boron Carbide coated. That is assuming that the Knifecenter site is correct.
