when i got my d'allara a week ago, i looked at the catalog and the new spyderco tenacious caught my eye, anyone had any experience with that 8C13CrMoV steel? Or at the very least give me a comparison to say, 440 or 154cm or vg10??

It is the same steel used in the Byrd series. It has roughly the same composition as AUS8, but it is run a bit harder than AUS8 usually gets - around RC 61-62. I find it holds up to hard use better than AUS8, better than most 440C, and maybe a touch below 154CM, but not much. I don't think you can beat it at its price-point.
