Hi folks,

Bought a knife collection the other day and this was in with all the goodies.
A search of the interweb has turned up nothing. Anyone have any knowledge of this kit as to age aand weather it is a real Ka Bar kit?
Any info at all? Strange that it did not turn up on the internet.
I suppose it is possible that every one ever made and sold got opened up and assembled. I know if my Dad had brought this home to me as a kid , that package would have tore open in less than 5 seconds.

Very cool. I would leave it just like that if I were you.
 
I do intend to leave it all closed up. there is rust starting on the blade though , not sure what to do without opening. Really neat idea having a do it yourself kit.

Interesting and cool find, Burnt Stag Burnt Stag ! :thumbsup: Not sure there's much you could do about the rust without opening the package, but I would at least store it somewhere dry (maybe with some desiccant packs) to keep it from getting worse.
 
Nice find. :) In answer to your question, I do not recall ever seeing one of these kits before.
Of course growing up in the part of Iowa that I did, there were not a lot of stores that sold Ka-Bar ... or Case, for that matter.
It was mainly the various Imperial/Schrade brands, Western, and Camillus, from what I remember.
