G'day, the first photo is a normal SGS-3 Gift Set and this one has the Mac etch on both knives, however what I have not seen before is the tang stamp on this 897UH Signature Premium Stock.....MM897 USA STAINLESS.
I compare it with the "regular" 897UH.
The 167UH is the regular tang stamp so I wonder why Schrade made this special stamping and did not include their brand name 'Schrade'?
What does the MM stand for?...I've heard of Mac Tools of course and I previously had another Mac SGS-3 however it did not have this stamping.
I have a regular SGS-3 Set as well and both knives are stamped normal....
Am i missing the obvious?...I'm not the fizziest drink in the fridge these days, and hope I'm not yet short a Kangaroo in the top paddock.......Hoo Roo

Larry do a search for "Master Mechanic" and walla!!!;)
You don't seen many MM Uncle Henry's way more MM Old Timers!!

hey larry havent we seen the mm89 stamp on the 8ot frames for the master mechanics knives, if i remember right, i may be short a kangaroo or two as well!!----brady
ps-i think i have one somewhere..........

Thanks for your reply's...MM = Master Mechanic....isnt it strange that Schrade didnt put their brand name on this knife anywhere apart from Uncle Henry shield....going by how Albert loved to stamp things Schrade he wasnt even supposed to <Parker's arguments>..I kinda thought you only had to bend over in the factory and Old Albert would be there to hog tie & brand you.....MM must have insisted on this one so why wasnt the 167UH in the same set so tang stamped..it only has the blade etch....the only thing certain about Schrade is that you can never be certain.....Hoo Roo

If True Value carried Master Mechanic line then what's the connection between Mac Tools and True Value? Is there one or did Schrade just use a True Value stamped blade on a Mac Tools order?

If I was a buyer for Mac Tools I know I wouldn't like to see a competitors stamp on my knives. I'm surprised this passed Mac's standards. Great set none-the-less.
