Just thought about smoothing out the finnish on my 17 to reduce drag when cutting.
Was thinking of just using some fine-grit sanding paper to even it out a little.
I DON`T want to remove the coating, just make it smoother.
Anyone done this to the new coating?
Will this work?

I did it to my Machax...it works, I don't recall what grit I used..I knocked all the ''popcorn'' texture off it, made it smooth like the old coating.

Thanks Thrill, that`s what I like to hear, sandpaper comming out to work tomorrow, LOL

DJ, thank you very much, I just want to smooth it down, not screw it up, LOL...
320 sound like a good choise...

I like that look on the BK4 thrillbilly. Looks nice with the metal showing through on the edges. Might have to try that on mine.

I did my first new gen bk2 with a small angle grinder using a wire wheel, you can't push too hard or you'll take the coating clean off but just the right pressure and it will knock down the texture till its nice and smooth. Makes it shiner too!

Wait. Are you saying you have a bk2 with the new coating?

I smoothed out mine about 1/8th of an inch up. That's really all you need to do to it. I can slice tomatoes cleanly and shave hair with this now.

The only problem I experience with textured coating is when I'm batoning wood, other that that you are right. About an 1/8" of the way up is fine.
