I hope this is not sacrilige but I plan on stripping off the coating on my RC4 when it arrives, I just like the look of the bare steel and am not a fan of coatings in general. I will hate to see that cool rat logo go though (maybe I can protect it somehow, hmmm...)
I stripped my RAT 5 and patinad it , looked very nice, if I do say so myself.
Anyone else on the same boat here, and any pics for me?

I liked your convex recurve mod, it looked cool to me.
I will be convexing mine as well, once I learn how.

Whatever floats your boat or sinks your ship......... You paid money for it, it's yours. Do whatever hell you want with it, I say. Of course, with that stripping comes more preventive measures than before. I'd coat it with a nice thin layer of mineral oil to prevent rust. That knife will look pretty damn nice though stripped down. Actually , either way it looks pretty damn nice. :D

Heres the RAT-5, bad pic though. I have since given it to a friend who was joining the army.

I don't have the RC4 yet, but I'm working on it:D I am not a big fan of blade coatings, find they get ugly fast and don't add much to cutting ability. I have plenty of carbon blades, 01, A2, etc, and at least for me, extra coating protection has never been an issue. I wipe down a coated blade after use, I wipe down a stripped blade after use. I have nothing but respect for those who desire coated blades, they look great either way:),to each his own. I really need the RC4 after seeing some of these posts.
