Just curious, has anyone here really beat the hell out of their junglas? How did it hold up?

Really thinking its gonna be my next purchase....

Get it! I have beat the crap out of mine and it's just barely showing wear on the finish. Edge is still shaving sharp. It's a beast of a knife.
Eagle

I used the crap out of my Junglas. Cut down a few decent sized trees, provided all the firewood for a crew of three for a weekend with it, chopped up a snake, made some spears, a spring trap, scared off a rouge brotosaurus..SARasaurus really....

Still has the factory edge. Has some less coating for sure but it's seen some really heavy use and worked perfectly.

If your talking "end of the world", I think the Junglas and an Izula are about all I'd need bladewise.

It snapped. That's what you want really. Well tempered steel should flex to a point and then break.

I find the stress tests like they do at knifetest dot com BS too. Has nothing to do with reality at all, not even remotely. Who brings a knife when you're are 'chopping' down a brick wall?

Fixed that for you, taking all the honour foryourself aye?

Shotgunner-are you selling those arrowhead sheaths yet ? Thanks.

Sigh.....still fighting with it man. I like the design of the tan one in that picture the best as did Jeff and Mike and Ethan Becker and Dave Canterbury (yea, I was that guy asking everyone and their mother their opinion :D) but I'm having a really hard time with repeatability, getting them in the right spot on the kydex is what gives it the right retention. I'm kind of a perfectionist with that stuff.

Man, it was more work forcing her to do it than it would have been just doing it myself.:D

I like the arrowhead snuggy :) @ Slack, if it can cut boat loads of grape trees, that are dried tough husky and pita, as well huge ropes that are meant for ships, but somehow ended up 220 miles away in a huge grape farm area.....cut automotive hose tubing, cut a crx car doors sheet steel like paper, still made spears to throw, chopped down vines and etc to make lashings....as well little tree bits to make a farm shelter ;) dig holes looking for buried treasure some youth buried long time ago and cant remember exactly where it was (think 50+ holes) and hit numerous rocks, and than cut cardboard, was used as a pry bar, and then the user had the bright idea to continue screwing around doing various other things he shouldnt have with the knife...thinking it was NOW dull? ... lol. I think it'll hold up for you. Its A HELL OF A LOT OF KNIFE for so little on the dollar, these guys really make a knife thats to be used, and abused. Its literally at a great price so if you still manage to break it honestly in use? They'll replace no questions asked AND later you can still buy another and the bank wont be broken.

I was going to buy a new sig pistol and some tools so i can finish a jig for making bike frames, but eh, I decided hey, family members should have esee knives. I can get other stuff later. My guys at GM who always give me massive discounts on crate v8's and etc? I already gave them esee 3's and izulas. I LOVE esee's stuff so much, I give little else thought to anything massively more expensive.

I like knives and shiney stuff like the next guy, but when it comes to something that just damn works? Their stuff gets the job done. I posted in another thread comparing a nissan 240sx to a corvette for knife comparison, the esee brand sure as hell is NOT a bank buster, and not a all out glorified shined up collectors item that gets flame war superiority like other items out there....but its a high quality no frills lets go do this kinda knife. I compare my esee knives with my 240s. sure they are japanese, but with proper suspension, fire wall relocation, cage work, massive brakes, and a LS1 swap if going used route, with only $15k invested in some cheaper builds they can rape on almost anything. And still remain well below the corvettes new price tag, especially since I only like the thorough bred models like the z06, gs, and zr1.......

But for someone like me who just loves to drive, and beat on stuff? I don't post anything on public forums, i dont like media circulating on them, I dont go to car shows, i dont build to compete for pieces of plastic or cast metal trophies...the car just gets down and done quickly, cheaply, effectively, and in ANY pinch? I know is just as dependable and hardcore as the more higher priced vehicle....

Same for Esee = brand x. Whatever brand x may be, price tag doesn't always necessitate the best product for you, for most people? They will NEVER use or fully realize a product. Like some cars I use to build or bikes for clients with pockets of money, just cause the price was excessive, doesn't mean their lambos or ferraris are everything they need except a name brand status symbol...same with kids with their rice rockets, having all the best products from catalogs.....doesnt mean you need those ungodly huge ap or stoptech or brembo brakes....or that better than fac offering, LS7 Rockhellar race motor....or jasper k. supercharger or 109mm turbo... lol.

Same with our knives, they get the job done, and look good doing it, their price is perfect for the end use, and the quality is more than what they are charging.

So my answer after an elongated post? Get the Junglas, if you need it. A want more I am sure, but Im sure you will need it :) eventually ;P

again its like surefire to brand x lights...its all relevant to use and need, coupled with quality and price. I love surefire, but I am looking at other lights like fenix or eagle tac.

Good luck with your choice, and remember, more expensive doesnt mean better, though it can. However doesnt mean better for you. You may not ever even or need that. Something cheaper may fit the bill, you'll find though esee is a good sweet deal of a price, their product quality surpasses even further what they charge, I am serious. I came to the realization, and just said to myself, I'm ganna stock up on knives ;P never know when I wanna give a nice gift, or may break something. I've gone out of my way to break and destroy my first esee offerings I purchased. That was after $ was no longer that tight because school is over and other bills are now paid.

Find what works, and invest in it. Always function vs form, and quality over quantity and bragging rights value. I can't stretch enough how many vipers and corvettes I myself have built for other people that my 01 s15 silvia has destroyed and humiliated.... my own works :D lol.

Anyways GL! I go finish installing my motor in bike frame like the good geek I am :D

I actually think it will be my next purchase as well. That and my wife wants a HEST.

Made up my mind... Junglas it is..

Shotgunner, I hardheartedly agree, Izula/Junglas = perfection.. Throw in a H.E.S.T. and you're over the top.. Do you sell the sheaths, can you pm me if so on prices for the Izula's.?

EDIT: Shotgunner that blade looks worn out and nasty.. Send it to me and I'll dispose of it properly for you... :0)
