Anyone touch a CRK&T Zillatool?

Looks neat...maybe a superior alternative to the Byrd/Spyderwrench...it certainly is much cheaper and seems easier to use.

The Zilla-Tool looks neat, but is it practical? I haven't seen or handled one yet, but from the pictures shown on CRKT's website, I already see a couple of negative things about it.

Bead-Blast = Rust Magnet

Wiping the tool down with a rust inhibitor will help prevent corrosion, but I personally don't like the idea of bead blasted implements in any multi-tool. Also, the tool looks to be longer than I would typically prefer as you can't fold the pliers into the handle..

I saw a post with the specks somewhere and it said that the pliers were spring loaded and retracted in to the handle.

No, the pliers are spring loaded, but they're permanently exposed. They don't retract into the handle. Equipped.org has a pic of the Zilla-Tool closed.

I think it's kinda cool. I think I might pick one up and put it in my bicycle tool-bag.

I've got one it is longer and more narrow than the skeltool, weights the same, fast deplowing blade, with good lock up, the plyers are pretty good, bout as good as a wave in my opinion, andthe screw driver is alright. it is realy good for edc because of the pocketclip, it will ride good in the pocket.

I am not really fond of it as a MT, I never bother to carry mine. It sits in the junk draw at home, in case my wife wants to use it. I suggest you stick to the more tried and true designs, but that might just be me... :)

I had one, but I gave it to a friend. I disagree about the knife being quick deploying. You basically have to use the flipper to deploy the blade, and mine wasn't very slick - you had to to flipper it hard and flick your wrist to get get it to deploy.

If you check one out in person, it's pretty big. I wouldn't want to pocket carry it. This wouldn't be so bad if it had more tools, but it doesn't.

It looks cool, though. The tools it does have work fine. Not my first choice for an EDC MT, though. But, nice to add if your a collector, it's different than the standard Leatherman type MT.

It's a cool tool, but I like the Guppie a lot more. I traded my Zilla because it wasn't my cup of tea.

I've touched a Zilla-Tool and Zilla-Tool Jr but I don't use them much. The name is fitting since the Zilla-Tool is a bit big for using its pocket clip... it comes with a sheath though. The little Zilla, is more manageable but the bits are small for big jobs... and I keep losing the bits - they slide out a little too easily. :(
