Anyone tried Delta's combo vertical bandsaw?

Model 28-348. It's 1.5 hp and has speeds from 40-3000 sfm. It looks like a great fit for a shop which does everything from micarta to tool steel. I've been thinking about upgrading from my HF Portaband once I get rid of my plasma cutter, and think one of these might be the way to go.

Anyone messed with one of these, or the (cheaper) Wilton equivalent? I'd love to hear about your experience.

oh my god why would you get rid of a plasma cutter????

Yeah, saw this one coming. :D

It's a great little machine, self-contained so it doesn't need a compressor or anything. The problem is that, as a knifemaking tool, it's got a fatal flaw (that some folks here know about). It leaves a zone of hardened metal along the edge of the parts I cut with it that has to be either ground off or annealed. Both are time consuming, and I'm not set up to anneal all the time anyway. I know I'll be better served by a bandsaw (especially one that can cut wood, too) so I'm making a hard choice and giving up the insane coolness of my own PLASMA torch for something that will actually help me move forward with my business.

You want it?

Just a tip with the blades. If you have a choice of cheap blades or the better bi metal more expensive go for the bi metal. also pick up a wood blade the teeth are bigger with more gap for wood. I just have a cheap bandsaw that makes a lot of noise and vibrates but with the good blade in I love it.
