Hello all,
I love the lines of the new Stingray but I was wondering if anyone has one and how well they like it before I pull the trigger on this one.

Also, do you all think it's worth the price tag of ~$170?

I was able to handle one (with carbon fiber inserts) at Blade Show West 08 and here is what I found:

Pros: Good weight, very smooth action, good fit and finish, solid lock-up.

Cons: Very small plastic washers in between the handle and the blade. Although the finish on the knife looked great, it was very slippery in the hand. I have seen some pictures of the Stingray 2.0 with dual thumb lugs, but this one only had the lug on one side (not sure what to make of that).

Overall, I was a little disappointed, but perhaps I had my hopes set too high. The knife was nice, but somehow felt less rugged than the old Sogwinders/Stingray. The biggest turn-off was the small plastic washers. A knife of this caliber should have phosphor bronze, or at least make the washers larger. Anyway, just my two cents.

Thanks for the feedback, and I agree: a knife of that price and caliber should definitely at least have some copper/ (other materials besides plastic) washers.

I purchased one new(Stingray 2.0) on line about a month ago for $152. I liked it enough to make it my everyday pocket knife. Smooth action and nice feel, especially if you have small hands like I do. Very functional and beautifully finished with the carbon fiber inserts on the handle.
