Anyone tried to soften up the 0560 jimping?

Love the 0560, everything about except one. The jimping on top where the flipper is located is crazy aggressive. I assume all of these are the same. Really digs into the finger when flipping it open.

My question is has anyone tried to soften the jimping up at all? If so, what method did you use and how did the results turn out? How did the appearance turn out? Thanks for any info.

I ran mine against a wood dowel a number of times. Other people used a nail file. Go gentle and slow and it doesn't seem to change the appearance. It shouldn't take much to soften then slightly. Make sure you blow all dust out especially if you use a nail file as you don't want all that fine rough grit getting in with the bearings.

We already had a thread about this. Do a search a few pages back for the thread....Dehoning jimping something like that.

I am so glad I didn't know a greyish UF nail board wouldn't ease the Ti & G10 jimping's sharp edges. I might have not gone to the trouble of easing my 0561's sharp edges with one! I know... we are always told that cardboard is not good to use our super knives on as it contains abrasives... maybe the nail board's cardboard backing eased the edges! Actually, it loaded up (dark grey) or smoothed out the abrasive UF board's entire coating, ruining the free nail board. It was a miracle - my 0561 no longer takes DNA samples from the jimping.

Nail cartilage toughness (2-2.5 Mohs) is irrelevant. Wood saws have carbide blades. Wood is not tough. Do you think carbide bits can't mill Titanium? Sure you could use something of 3 Mohs to file nails but it would take you forever which is why nail files use hard material and wood saw blades use carbide. I used a wood dowel to smooth mine out. If you think thats impossible since wood is softer than titanium then cut a bunch of cardboard with a steel blade and tell me if soft carboard can dull a hard steel blade!
Yah, finger nails are tough.
