Didnt want to ask this over in the other thread but I was wondering if anyone had tried the maxim dt-48 quench oil yet? I saw some hardness test results that were every bit the equal of Parks 50..Just curious if anyone had tested it or tried it..The as quenched hardness out of the maxim was 67.5....

Which one is that? Sorry I'm sure I could look it up, but is that their polymer quench or the oil that were reputed to be formulating as an alternative to Park HB50?

Hmm yeah, I'm curious also. I'd also be curious to whether or not it could be mixed with P50. As I'd like to up my quantity from 5 to 10g, but I don't need two separate fast quench oils.

The DT-48 from Maxim is only like $16 cheaper per 5 gallon pail than Parks 50 (both prices quoted yesterday) and shipping would be identical....so you wouldn't save much.

Plus, DT-48 is a dark oil and Parks 50 is a light (he used the word clear) oil. There was a reason and it had to with some technical stuff that started getting over my head and I couldn't keep up.

Yeah, I assume it'll be one or the other. I'd just like to support Maxim directly, since they've been so anxious to work with us, even offering us a competitors product at a better price than anybody else.
