Anyone try the Ti-Lock Steam?

Just curious if anyone has bought one of these, and if so, how they like it.

I had purchased the standard Ti-Lock and found that it just felt a little odd to me. So I moved it.

I know the Steam version has some detractors on the engraving but I kinda like it actually. Not sure about the stone though. I'm curious if the engraving adds a little purchase to the polished smooth Ti slabs.

But mostly due to the fault of Kidcongo's pictures, I keep trying to talk myself into trying one again. I may not have given it a fair shake.

Dunno.......I may wait till another Ti-Lock surfaces on the exchange. Frustrating decisions these CRK knives cause.

Little off my own topic but did you notice how the new Spydie PITS design is almost exactly like a Ti-Lock except in a slippie?

Thanks guys! Joe

I keep talking myself into and then out of trying the ti lock. This version costs quite a bit and I am not sure about the engraving adding to the grip all that much.

As for the Spyderco, your post led me to look at that knife for the first time. It does look like a non locking ti lock knife!

I disagree. The PITS is entirely different save for the fact that the spring is exposed. The bearing surface of the spring is the blade and not the handle which is a major difference...it makes it like any other slipjoint or lock back design IMO.

Regarding the TiLock....I have been wanting to try one for a while now. The embellished model has attributes I like...and don't. Some day I wil have the opportunity to handle one and it will help me with the decision;) I think in the grand scheme the steam-punk motif is a little too trendy and may not survive the test of time...that said, few knife designs do (which is also the reason I have put off trying this knife...the partially skeletonized handle is reminiscent of the late 80s/early 90s folder trend that went out for a while).

The PITS is pretty neat to handle, but is basically a friction lock in function. I feel the curiosity about the Ti-Lock beginning to threaten my bank account...

Interesting way to describe the PITS, I was wondering even though they don't interest me. However, I am right there with you that the Ti-lock will eventually find its way into my mailbox!

IMO, i think the steam needs some anodizing to bring out the design.
