I just picked up a Para 2 with the brown G10 scales.

I want to attempt to dye it an OD green (ish) color.

Am wondering how well the brown takes color.

Thanks.

Gave it a go.

The Rit Dyemore for synthetic materials worked pretty well. Their green is called Peacock Green, which is a darker green. Already close to OD as it was. I mixed it strong, half the bottle to only a few cups of water, with a little vinegar in there as well.

After two minutes, the color was an OD, but with a bit of a muddy brownish look, from the original brown underneath.

An extra minute made for a darker drab green color. A bit darker than typical OD, but I like it.

There is a very little bit of the brown peeking through on the edges, as they don't take dye as well, but it looks good.

I actually liked the result at the 2min mark, but wanted a bit less brown, two and a half minutes may have been perfect for me, but I am happy with the results.

I might attempt a photo later, if I am not pulling another 20hr+ shift tonight. And If I am allowed as a new member.

No, Most people seek out the brown and don’t want to change it, G10 can be dyed though.

There is a DLC version coming in the future also.

Trade them for some other colors.
IMO... Jade takes green better than brown.

Brown doesn't take any color very well
other than a darker shade of brown.

Here is what it looks like, color isn't exact to real life in the pick. In person under neutral light like sunlight it is a drab green, under interior lighting it seems a bit more drab and darker green.

FWIW, I am one who absolutely HATES brown G10 (just like he HATES pink, orange and yellow scales of any material), who has skipped buying any Spyders with it, and I'm certainly NOT about to buy a $200 knife and then try to Rite dye the handle black, which is my preferred G10 color.

Well, that's fine... I usually don't customize my knives either. I find the model and look I want up front.

For me... I specifically wanted the steel offered in this version, which was not available in another model with different color scales.

I like the brown enough to not be overly concerned if I was told it wouldn't take dye well, and I was fine with going black if the dye attempt didn't work out to a color I was happy with.

Custom scales are not hard to get, but I didn't want to go that route, unless I had no choice.
