Anyone try using an elf-choil with a firesteel?

I've been wondering if the small choil on satin GWs, Culties, or any of the other non-NM EDCs could be used in conjunction with a firesteel, either the smaller Scout-type or the larger Swedish Army-type? The diameters seem close in size. Or perhaps, with a small modification, could you use the choil notch with a firesteel? Opinions? Ideas?

I've tried it with my Active Duty, but the spine still works better.

I've done it with the little choil on my SHBA, and it did work. (I was glad, too, since I was showing off that I knew how!)

If it is not throwing off great sparks, you could try a round file, or even sand paper.

One great area that works on certain designs is the "tail" on the Meaners/SS. If you have a coated version, and then strip it, the corners of one side were sharper. Worked like a charm on my old SS. Greatest part, you did not even have to take it out of the sheath to do it, and no where near the edge!

With a satin version, you will probably have to do some work, because they tend to have a small bevel to break the corners.
