Anyone use a lanyard?

I use a simple homemade lanyard on a Fenix 1xAAA flashlight, which makes it easy to find in the bottom of my pocket. Others will use one on a knife for the same reason. Or hang the lanyard outside the pocket to keep the knife positioned and make it easy to grab. Other folks just like the way they look. The spendy Sebenza comes with a lanyard, but I cut it off. So some folks like 'em, and some don't.

I would avoid using a lanyard on any waved model. It could get caught on something or some child or child-brained person could grab it and you could have an open knife swinging around.

I used the lanyard on my Seb. but not on any other knife. The lanyard was very handy on that folder.

I like making 550 cord things, but lanyards just get in the way when I chop. Or cut.

Iv got a problem with making 550 cord things too :o

I personaly dont like lanyards for the most part but they do have there uses.
I do use a lanyard/fob on my bush crafty knives but not on my folders.

I do, specially on waved knives.
It's a very simple one with a overhand knot on the tips, and it allows only just exact fit on my wrist. However I don't leave it hanging out of the pocket the whole time, just when I consider I will need it.

I like having a lanyard on my 10. Gives a bit more to grab onto when starting to draw it from the pocket.

i have home made lanyards on all my tip up knives FWIW, it helps with the draw esp on waved ones, and no i have never had a kid (or anyone else) grab the lanyard and pull, i gen'ly keep the lanyard in my pocket not dangling out of it, YMMV though lol.

I have a lanyard, or really more of a "catch line" tied with para cord as a Chris Reeve Coil Knot. This is on a Spyderco Endura that sits in my hydration pack on long runs and trail runs. I can reach behind my back and grab it easily. I couldn't do that without. I got one on a fixed blade Ontario RAT-3 also. Limited, but useful in some special cases for me.

I find that the lanyard is great on key rings though! I can always get to my key, library card, and supermarket discount fob... suburban survival.

They are extremely useful on combat knives, less so on hunting knives, and virtually useless on EDC/self-defense knives. Like the neck cord on a good pair of binoculars, if you're in a situation where dropping it could prove to be a problem, then wrap that cord or thong around ypur wrist and get a good hold on your knife. Otherwise, they're next to useless.

And as far as "spendy" knives with lanyards go, I've seen 'em on $2,000 Randalls.

I use the one like the one on the link only I put the skull on the end of the lanyard because I find that the skull will leave marks on the liner, backspacer and pocket clip but at the end of the lanyard it weighs down the lanyard to keep it straight and doesn't scratch

Well I've decided to get one and try it out. For me I thought it was just looks but the more I use my Mini Commander I find sometimes when I pull it out of my pocket its not always securely in my hand and the lanyard may add a bit more to hold on.
Thanks for all your comments
