I'm really digging these of late. Anyone have any experience with them? I'd really like to try something that has the shape of the condor below only with a 6-8 inch blade and 1/8 inch thick.

I use a real Thai E-Nep.

It's much bigger and thicker then the one you describe.

How thick is your E-Nep? The Condor seems to be 1/4" thick for the shorter one, but 1/8" for the longer one.

I have my Condor shipment arriving tomorrow, which includes both models. If I can remember I'll try to snap a few pics. :)

I have a Thai E-Nep too! I recently took down a 20 foot wall of Bougainvillea with mine (2" thorns). Sliced everything like butt-ah!

The Condor looks like an inherent chopper, although a user should probably make an effort to remove any hot spots from the grip, especially since it has that many rivets on it.

I got a few from Thailand last month that are full tang and on the thick side. Where did you guys get yours?

I got mine shipped through Santi over at KF. He sells them for village smiths and uses some of the profits to help Thailand's under-equipped forestry Rangers.

I like your "loot"! Do you have a specific place you go to, or do you get them from those shops on the side of the road on the outskirts of the big cities?

I went to Ayutthaya, Thailand in the Arinyak Knife Village to do a story on them for TK.

YO RB, I just measured mine, .211" max with a full distal taper.

So about how much do yours weigh?
They seem to be on the heavy side. Shorter thicker blades usually in Asia and longer thinner in Latin America. Condor has them as 1/4" thick so that has to be on the heavy side.

I've got quick comparison pics uploading right now. Yup--it's a hefty one! :D

Edit: Here they are! Pardon the poor quality--it was pouring out so I couldn't get outside!

Thanks. Wow, they look huge. The shorter one is also very thick!

Honestly, how is the edge out of the box?

Seemed fine to me in the quick glance I gave them, but I didn't give them a thorough inspection--I really pulled them out of the box just for the pictures. The thorough inspection begins today, so I'll report back.

The Thai enep was designed with a bunch of samples from Thailand. 1/4 is the thickest they will get it before it gets ridiculous, but it keeps in the same length as most of the samples. We wanted to make a full tang version rather than a stick tang. Bear's version looks like the malaysian and chinese version that you see around alot, made at a factory, they are also full tang, I've plaid with one of those a few times that was around 8" long.

The wood is Guatamalan Walnut.
