Anyone use belts from Discount Abrasives?

Hello. I've been out of "occasional-knifemaking" for over a year now. I lost my shop space moving to a new home (bummer). I'm gearing up to do some grinding again. So, I'm looking at a fresh 2" x 72" belt order.

Has anyone used belts from Discount Abrasives or www.barbkat.com?

Before, I used a variety of 3M and Norton belts. The above sources are cheaper then 3M and Norton, but I don't want to bother if they will not last as long.

If you do use the cheaper belts, which grits and type do you find them to be most useful?

Thanks in advance,
Allan

I use Discount Abrasives for basic Aluminum Oxide, Blue Zirc, and Scotchbrite belts. Best prices I've found on those specifically.

If you want other belts like 3M, Nortons, etc. try Pop's or TruGrit.

I have been buying from them for about 2 years now. I use the AO belts. They seem no different than the 3m belts I used to buy at the tool shops.

No, they won't last as long as 3M.

Thanks for the replies. Since I need to get a few Scotchbrite belts, I think I'll sample their other belts too.

I'll still get more Norton and 3M belts. When in doubt buy some of everything!

Thanks,
Allan
