After reading about the Condor machetes in the general forum, I wanted to ask you guys if anyone has used the Condor knives that are made in 1080? I think it is the Bushlore with synthetic rubber handle, with about a 4 - 5 inch blade? It looks similar to the Becker 2 companion blade (just to indicate the one I was referring too). :D

Sorry guys, I was mistaken, the knife I am interested is the Rodan knife. Just checked it out on SMKW website to verify. So anyone use it? I am interested in how the carbon steel did. And what do you think of the 420 steel on the other knives?

The Rodan ROCKS. You simply will not find a more rock-solid fixed blade for $20. I love mine to death.

The carbon steel is fantastic (performs like 1095), the handle (polypropylene) is virtually indestructible, and the sheath isn't half bad either. Good heft, too.

The 420HC that Condor uses in some of its knives and a lot of its machetes is really good stuff, too. While pretty much every other stainless machete on the market isn't worth passing water over, Condor really nailed the heat treatment. Great flexibility and edge retention, and I've never gotten a speck of rust. That being said the carbon steel takes a little better edge at the cost of corrosion resistance. :)

I have a inca knife by condor It is almost a machette I use it for every thing from wacking limbs of of trees in the yard to slicing bread in the kitchen It is stainless steel but if the rodan knife is as good of quality it should be a winner

Fun fact: the Rodan has the same handle as the Inca Knife. :)

We buy focaccia bread and slice it to make samwiches, my inca condor slices that stuff better than anything I have found
Joezilla has a video on youtube trying to remove that blue handle off a condor :D

I got the Condor Nessie for Christmas & So far I really like it ! The weather has been a little rough since the Holidays so I haven't really got to give it a true work out yet but I will :D

I recently received 2 Condor Bushcraft knives (2" & 5" blades) and I like them a lot. Nice polished blades, thicker than Moras with good sized grips and leather pouch sheaths.

They came sharp and I was able to strop them to hair-popping sharp. I haven't had any problems maintaining that edge.

They are now my dedicated garage/shop knives where I use them quite often for all the dirty work. Shreds cardboard for the recycler, cut and scrapes plastic and wood without any hitches or failures.

The only reason why they are relegated to being "shop" knives is because I have way too many knives already, but they will definitely get more use than any of my outdoor blades.

Nice sheath! The stock one on my Rodan gripped the knife but didn't conform to it at first. Fits like a glove now, though. The leather broke in nicely. Though I still plan on getting some kydex pants for it.:)

Those look great. Buck too has a knife that competes in the price range of Mora's and Condors. Thanks for the photo comparison that really puts it in perspective.

Does anyone have a picture of the metal part of the Rodan?

I assume the wood handled knives are all full tang.

Joezilla has a picture of the tang of one--it's super beefy!
