I never hear much about the Mineral Mountain Hatchet Works line of knives. I have one and it seems very durable, heavy. Anyone ever seen or used these knives? They look bushy to me.

+2 on the edge. I have a white river bowie and have had my eye on the survival bowie.

Wow. let me expand on that:P

His handle on the white river bowie is probably my favorite handle I've ever used on a knife. The grind lines are pretty good, and the coating is done well too. These aren't really pretty knives, they are meant to beat up bush knives. I've skinned a squirrel or two with the help of the white river bowie.

Which also doesn't mean I'm any better at skinning squirrells.

They are tough but don't slice or perform that well for most cutting needs outside of chopping or stabbing IMO. I've got one and although I like it fine it would not be my first choice to go into the field. My Koster Bushcrafter cuts circles around it and is also much more comfortable to use and yet it was less money. I'm sure some of the MMW's knives are fine if you want a good fighter or self defense knife but they don't fill much else in the way of normal needs for a good knife to me and seem a bit obtuse in the primary grind and edge to really do much more than look really awesome.

I have had 2, still have 1 I don't really use. I was going to write some stuff about it but that what STR there says pretty much sums up everything I was going to say.

I've had a survival bowie and still have for now one of the DV8 drop point bowies. I'd rank them inferior to a khukuri for chopping but at the same time the edge issues and design didn't really do well for slicing.

I'd still love to have the White River Bowie like Joe has just for the cool factor but if I was buying a peice of gear they'd be at the bottom.

I have their Farm and Ranch and it's an outstanding blade. The edge goes from 1/4" thick to quite thin and it cuts well.
