I use to follow the solunar tables for hunting, then the barometric pressure shifts. Now I just watch the game in the backyard to determine prime times for game. Anybody have ideas and suggestions for best times to spend in the bush looking for food? This may be helpful in a survival situation if you want to conserve energy or want to increase your chances of success hunting. Regards, Loosearrow

My GPS has a feature that provides solunar table information. I always take a look at it when I'm out hunting or fishing, just for the heck of it. I have yet to notice any correlation between the solunar forecast and fish and game activity.

For most all types of hunting, dawn and dusk tend to be the most productive hunting times.

I have noticed that it's fairly accurate. When I was little fishing for smallies on a little river, I remember throwing my jig into this slab of rock over and over and not catching much. I remember within a min or 2 from the prescribe time from F&S, a whole bunch of fish started swimming back and forth around where I was casting and ended up with a few fish within half an hour. Made me a believer since.

Never found it working as well for game tho. The best time for hunting is always first light for me.

they are just part of the puzzle solving process. While important to consider, there are certainly other things.

I'm reading the Old Foxfire series now and they refer to moons for all sorts of things. The farmers Almanac is still used by "real" farmers and is based on lunar cycles too.
I cut a bunch of living fence post branches one time and my guy sais "no functiona". I laughed, planted them and none took. The same tree took no matter when you did it in Miami but there is something going on when your closer to the equator.
He replaced them when " the moon was right"
100 % took.
I'm quite sure some educated idiot at a college would bleat " fairy tale " but I'm a believer.
All of these Ticos swear by it too.Production per acre here blows everyone else in the tropics off the map.
Maybe thats why ?
