Anyone use stainless steel pins?

I'm putting a handle on a Fallkniven F1 blank. Thought stainless steel pins, instead of brass, would look nice. Any problems with that idea?

I've got some SS pins (3/16) for some EnZo blades I'm putting together. I also have some brass and mosaic. For me, I use one or the other based on the scales. For example, for most Micarta, I think SS looks best. For most dark hardwoods, brass looks best. For light wood or other scales, it's a toss-up. It's all subjective, I think.

i think ss looks best most of the time. i'm having a custom made by eddie from shadowknives that will have ss pins...

I can't decide what will look best with a stainless blade and some really light colored, almost orange cocobolo - my last two pieces of this wood will go into this knife (Fallkniven F1). I really didn't want the black rubber/plastic handle with such a nice blade.

the reason i like stainless pins is because they match a stainless blade...

Here is the result, I still want to do some more sanding when I get the urge. Can't say the handle design is original, but I love the wood. The hard part was trying to drill the (*U(&(&^*%(*% steel on this knife. I had only 1/4 pins to use and eventually had to canibalize some pins which included threaded screws.

I just don't think the black rubber/plastic handle they generally use on these is worthy of the blade, though obviously these are made for hard use, not looks.

Thanks...now I gotta find a sheath to fit it with that bigish guard.

Looks good, Scotchleaf!

Drilling hardened steel is a bear! Use carbide bits, oil, and a slow speed.
