How does it work on the typically thinner blades such as the paramilitary? and how does the slicing ability compare to the edge given by the sharpmaker?

all of the time, and what do you mean by slicing ability? I don't use the angle guide and mostly freehand sharpen with the WSKO.... ive had no problem evening out the bevels and giving a blade that will handle it a more acute edge

you can still use the sharpmaker to micro bevel if you would like

By slicing ability I simply mean while convex edges are known as tougher, and less likely to catch on things, are they as "sharp" as the edges on say the sharpmaker, I own neither am im trying to make up my mind which one I would rather get.

gotcha! there is a slight convex probably not as much as your thinking, but It depends on what you want .... I like to change the factory angles and will still use a sharpmaker for touch up

if you need something to just restore you edge after use.. there isn't anything wrong with a sharpmaker ....if you want the ability to re bevel your knife or quickly clean up really damaged edges the worksharp is the way to go

My knives are all beat to hell, from hard use and failed bench stone attempts, but on a brand new knife that didn't need it I was curious if it would still work for maintance without eating the dang thing. I suppose a sharpmaker and a worksharp is not out of the question, especially forgoing the diamond and ultra fine stones

I do all of my knives on my Worksharp, and I can get a hell of a sharp edge with proper technique. I have sharpened an Endura, Delica, Domino, and a PM2. No ruined edges, and they all slice like beasts.

Sharpeners are more based on skill than they are the actual sharpener. Some people use the incredibly high end systems and get poor edges, just the same as people who use something like a 2-4 stone progression and getting shaving edges. Also remember one thing... STROP STROP STROP!!! Always spend time stropping an edge. Usually you can circumvent a stone all together with a strop if you have a coarser compound and no edge damage.

On new knives the bevels are usually not up to par with what some of us want. They are usually very obtuse, possibly uneven, and otherwise done very poorly. In general if you know what your doing you can do a lot better than what you get stock.

If you beat up your knives and you are trying to decide between the worksharp and sharpmaker get the worksharp. The sharpmaker is better to touching up a knife, it's not so good for putting an edge on one or repairing it.

I used my new KO worksharp to sharpen an endura and a bug with great results! Shaving sharp edge in just a few minutes
