I have mostly read on this sight, but I was at the NRA convention last weekend and watched a couple of knives sharpened with WIcked Edge and it made sense to me. I use a Lanskey set right now, but this seems like a big improvement in design.

I have one as well. I really like it but the customer service has me a little pissed. I ordered some stones that showed in stock. They processed my credit card, withdrew the money then sent me a note saying they had just run out the day before and did not update the website. Thanks for my patience it will be 2-3 weeks.

If they show up in 3 weeks all will be forgiven but I feel a little used.

Yeah pretty good work out. Just seems like it would be easier to keep the angle on both sides.

I actually just got mine today.
What an improvement over my Lansky.
I considered getting an Edge Pro but am glad I got this one.
I particularly like being able to sharpen both side at once (more or less).
Pretty happy ...I still need to get the very fine /ultra fine stones though.
Very nice unit.

Yesterday evening i sharpened my Strider SMF for the first time on the Wicked Edge.
Straight from the Strider shop the S30V blade had a 45-50-ish edge that was also rather irregularly formed.

I've resharpened it now to an exact 40 degrees inclusive, using the diamondstones in gritsizes 100, 200, 400, and 600, after which i proceeded with SiC wet & dry paper in gritsizes 800, 1000, 1200, 1500, and 2000.
After this i kinda polished the edge using 2 pieces of cardboard impregnated with some no-name polish taped to the diamond stones, also using the Wicked Edge.
The fine scratches you see in the picture aren't visible with the naked eye, only with a jewelers loupe.
In real life the edge looks next to mirror polished.

The whittled hair i plucked from my leg, :D

Those are some amazing pictures.
I hope I can get that good someday.
I am not too worried yet since I have only had my WE less than 24 hours.

PS: How did you get the prefect edge around the curve?
I have only been 'practicing' on some of my cheaper knifes.
Do you reclamp for that portion or is it just being careful?

If possible i try to clamp each knife as close to the center of the blade as i can, and then it's just a matter of going through each step long enough.
I don't reclamp the blades.
Try to get the best from each grit and don't change grits too soon.
I use a jewellers loupe to check the progression.( i ain't crazy am i ? :D)
Take special care to stop the movement forward as soon as the point of the blade is on the center of the stone, then take the stone off of the blade.
This will make sure the point stays crisp.

Going though all the grits on each knife will take time, especially when you use taped-on SiC paper like i do.
The Wicked Edge system is nowhere near as fast as the Paper Wheels which i use also.
But when you're not in a hurry and want to reprofile & sharpen valuable blades which need to stay in a condition as if they weren't touched at all, the results of the Wicked Edge speak for themselves.

This just came in:

Blade Magazine 2009 Accessory Of The Year: Wicked Edge “Precision Knife Sharpeners”

I looked at the web site.
It seems to be quite expensive and then the base is extra!

For me the results justify the price, which isn't that high if you consider that you don't particularly need that granite baseplate.
I've mounted my Wicked Edge on an old wooden cutting board and it works just fine that way.

mr2blue,
