Hello,I am planning to buy Emerson cqc7 drop point in 154cm and regrind it to full zero .Any experiences how Emerson's 154 cm holds up for utility tasks with thin edge?Thank you!

I leave mine stock.
Can you convex zero it? That wud make a stronger edge.

I could be wrong, but I think Ernest grinds his customs to a zero grind. Should hold up fine if you know what your doing and don't ruin the heat treat.

I have 2 Emerson Knives that are zero ground and they are easy to maintain. Both are tantos with a chisel grind. I haven't beat on them but I do use them to cut things. As long as I maintain them frequently with a strop and occasionally with an ultrafine rod they areally easy to keep very sharp. My fear is chipping one, I have never had to take them to the diamond stones. I'd say go for it and if it doesn't work out you can always put your own edge bevel on.

I have 3 V-ground Emersons that have been reground to zero, and I do use them often but not quite as hard as the conventional chisel edges. I don't worry much about EKI's 154CM chipping, it's tough enough for what I need to use a knife for.
