Anyone used one of these -- Steel X Bench Stone Holder

I don't have one so I can't really answer your question, but have you tried one of those thin anti-skid mats or pads under your tri-hone. I use one under my DMT benchstones ...

I second the anti skid mat. Just look for the stuff they use in the cupboards of rv's to keep the dishes from sliding around. I use it under my tri hone and have no problem with it sliding on the kitchen counter.

Thank you all for the information -- especially knifenut1013.

I just ordered one and a big ole' stone to put in it.

I'll try it out this week and post my opinions.

Okay the X Bench Stone Holder came in the mail today and I mounted a 8" x 2" Norton Combination Coarse / Fine India stone in it.

It works like a charm.

For those of you who do not have a dedicated workbench and use the kitchen table (or any other slick surface) like myself I highly recommend this product. It keeps the stone from sliding around and elevates it enough that sharpening is MUCH easier then with my previous tri-hone wood block contraption.

Glad to hear you like it, it really is a helpful peice. If you use it with water stones make sure to lube the threads after cleaning to prevent rust.
