Hi ladies and gents,

I am a bark river (bushcraft) type of guy.
I wanted to try something new , so I ordered a Dozier Professional Guide Knife.

I dont know what to expect. Will it make a good bushcraft /woods knife/hunting knife?

What are your thoughts please?

Where will it outperform the barkriver kephart or scookum bushtool for example?

How will Dozier D2 compare to A2 or 3v in edge holding?
Thanks

I have one, and for outdoors activities, I think it is the ideal size. If I need anyting bigger, its an axe or maybe a machete. Nothing Ive ever had holds an edge as good as Bob Dozier D2. I got mine from AG Russel, he has great prices and service, and usually has some Doziers in stock. My only regret is that I didnt get the more expensive sheath with the longer drop down type strap. Dozier kdex is great though, I just may have preferred the other sheath

I just got the latest version of this and haven't had much time to use it.

The edge is very razor-like and the design strikes me as excellent for its purpose.

I've heard from many that Dozier knows how to do D-2 right, so I have every expectation of excellent edge performance.

I think you and I will be very happy with our knives.:)

Been using one regularly for several years and really like it. Sharp, holds an edge, performs general camp chores like a champ. The scales aren't as thick as most of the knives I have in that size, but the ergos are great...just took a little getting used to.

The Pro-Guide is a very fine knife, one of the most popular Dozier models.

It's D2 is hard to beat in edge retension.

It's thin hollow ground edge is ideal for the kind of slicing and cutting one will encounter in hunting and food prep but may be a bit fragile for hard use tasks like batonning seasoned hardwood.

I would say Bark River's convex A2 is preferred for hard use bushcraft type chores.
